“It’s an honour and a privilege to receive this award. I have to thank my teammates, Real Madrid and all the people behind this award, my family and my people. Thank you very much. I’ll keep working towards winning more awards on a collective and individual level. I always try to do my best. I’ve been here in Real Madrid for four years and little by little I’ve gradually left my mark. I feel very welcomed by the people, the fans, by people on the street…and I have to thank them because without them I wouldn’t have the success that I do. All awards are important but perhaps the ones that come from your teammates are even more so. I feel like an important player, not the leader”
just after the race, when makoto says his heart is still racing, just with those words makoto sparks a little light in haru’s eyes. those words make him realize that his own heart is still racing too, which later on leaves him wondering what is it that he’s feeling, was it because they won? the water? adrenaline? something else?
and then with makoto’s words that night at the festival, how happy it made him to swim with everyone, with haru, the light in haru’s eyes brightens up like never before. his problems fade away, haru finds his answer.
an answer that was there all along but couldn’t find the words to voice it, and makoto just gave them to him “it made me happy”, makoto, who without meaning to, gives a voice to haru’s heart.
